Quality label

The certification of catteries according to Good Breeding Practices© allows an objective and transparent comparison between catteries independently of clubs and federations and is designed to encourage high quality breeding in Europe.

Advantages

To demonstrate and prove high quality breeding, independently of the regulations and the standards of clubs or feline federations. To provide an impartial and objective certification. The breeders of classical breeds or types that cannot be shown can advertise their cattery and their work

Ethics

The cattery is registered if it attains at least the « Standard » level of Good Breeding Practices©. Breeders also have the duty to follow their countries specific laws and the bylaws of their clubs and federations.

The quality label is given by the registration committee. Extra questions can be submitted to the breeder. The certification must be renewed periodically.

Rules for the certification to Good Breeding Practices©

1.    Any breeder of a CCEU recognised breed may apply for a certificate of Good Breeding Practices©. The test is computer calculated and gives an impartial and independant evaluation of the observance of good breeding practice, independently of a club or federation.

2.  There are five levels of certificate for Good Breeding Practices©  these range from one to five stars (Novice, standard, superior, premium, excellent) according to the score.

3.    Novice  breeders who have not had one litter may certify as such and receive one star for one year. This temporary certification may be reviewed on application by special request for twelve months without fee.

4.    The prefix or affix is automatically protected as soon as the certification is obtained. In the event of the cattery closing the prefix or affix expires after 10 years.

5.    Good Breeding Practices© certified breeders receive a certificate and are listed on the  CCEU’s website.

6.    To obtain the other services (registration of cats and kittens) from CCEU, the cattery must be certified.

7.    A second free attempt to obtain certification is allowed within 12 months if the first attempt is unsucessful

8.    Certifications must be renewed 45 days before expiration of the certification period, to avoid interruption of CCEU services.

9.    In case of moving house or any event that seriously modifies the structure or installations of the cattery (eg. Fire), the certification must be renewed within the two months following this significant change or move.

10.    If the certification of Good Breeding Practices©  has expired, the name of the cattery is removed from the website and none of its cats will be registered from then on.

11.    The score is calculated automatically and no correspondence concerning the level obtained will be entered into.

12.    The score’s calculation is the property of CCEU and will remain confidential.

13.    The statements made in the application must be truthful and can be the object of checks if necessary. The breeder may be requested to provide veterinary or other verification.

14.    Clearly intentional wrong statements, discovered after the certification has been granted, may give rise to a suspension. According to the severity of the offence, the cattery can be suspended, for a limited or unlimited period, from the website of CCEU and other services.
